On August 26, Pony Canyon released Volumes 3 through 5 of a CD series based on the characters from the TV anime K-ON!, available in CD shops in Akihabara and elsewhere.

The albums are maxi singles with tracks based on the K-ON! characters Ritsu Tainaka (Vol. 3), Tsumugi Kotobuki (Vol. 4) and Azusa Nakano (Vol. 5). They include songs performed by the band featuring each musician, songs devoted to each character, and remakes of “Let’s Go!” (the audition song played on the band’s internet radio station Rajion) for each member. The singles are priced at 1,365 yen each.

On June 16, Volumes 1 and 2 made the Oricon Daily Single Ranking, with “Mio Akiyama” (Vol. 2) reaching number two with 11,000 copies sold and “Hirasawa Ui” (Vol. 1) at number three with 10,000. Also, the two-disc mini-album “After School Tea Time” sold 67,000 copies to grab the top spot on the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking on August 3, so this latest release is getting a lot of attention.
