PHP Kenkyusho, based in Minami Ward, Kyoto, released a two-volume series of books on July 24. The titles are “Etiquette and Manners Taught by Butlers: From Apparel to Proper Behavior” and “Beauty and Grace Taught by Butlers: From the Body to the Mind.”

The volumes were written under the direction of Butler & Concierge Japan (based in Koto Ward, Tokyo), which offers services including the provision of private butlers. In the books, handsome butlers Claude, Will, Allan and Edward care for the “madam” (reader) by teaching her how to make herself into “a woman of a higher class.”

The “Etiquette and Manners” volume teaches the “madam who spends two years as a regular member of society in order to know more about life” about dining, how to choose clothing appropriate for the time, place and occasion, and about designing a room interior that is pleasant to spend time in. In “Beauty and Grace,” the butlers teach the “single girl with no relatives who will refine herself like a celebrity upon being invited to the mansion of a multi-millionaire” by giving advice on topics ranging from dining and business manners to beauty regimens in order to transform "a young lass into a classy madam.”

The retail price is 735 yen.
