Japanese Magazines on your iPhone
posted 09/07/22
A new service initiated by Yappa and Dentsu called Magastore allows iPhone and iPod Touch users to download Japanese magazines to their iPhones/iPods for a mere 115 Yen each. First time users however need to purchase the App for 600 Yen. So far only the 30 biggest magazines are available for download but the company plans to expand the service up to about 50 mags. Dentsu also aims for other markets like video game consoles or other mobile phone brands interestingly not only in Japan but overseas as well.
The act of turning a fading print medium like magazines into digital data seems like an crucial step for their survival. Newspapers went online a long ago but that transition went a lot easier then the layout heavy mags. Otaku will certainly rejoice once they can check release dates for their favorite eroge without having to go and buy the paper print. Otaku Mag service anyone?
