When going around Japanese fish markets one can find the strangest thing. It might even be a dried alien fish like this one that's for sale.
 

After a close look they turn out to be a Genny Haniver, a modified ray or another fish that after careful preparation looks like something out of science fiction movie. This in fact has been in practice for several hundred years as fish stand owners sought to sell them as dried remains of dragons or angels. Not surprising when they look so real you would almost believe it today. Apparently the ones on this TV show were not for sale but merely for attraction customers.

After all people have and always will try to make a buck out of ideas based on deception, something that does not look like it would change anytime soon.
