Robotic Sushi Pro

posted 09/07/01

The recently revealed robot hand, weighing a light 340 grams and consists of soft silicone skin stretched over a polycarbonate skeleton, is apparently not only capable of handling rice and raw fish like a professional, but simply any human hand's complex movement. It seems that despite the economy going down, Japan is at least for now able to produce new developments in the robot sector. This one however is a first of it's kind as it is just a hand and therefore cannot move around on it's own, requiring being set up properly at it's respective job. The hand has 22 pneumatically-powered artificial muscles that give it it's human like movability. Obviously prosthetic uses should bring promising results as well.

Also, the future challenge must be that robot developers start working together, combining only the best from each field to create capable machines we can't even begin to imagine. It is up to the government to bring all the small groups together I would suppose.
