Japan’s leading mobile giant NTT Docomo showed some rather futuristic prototype technologies at the recent JPCA Microelectronics Show 2009 in Tokyo. As the spokesman explained the aim is to create a direct interface where the user can attach hardware components to get a truly personalized mobile phone. The concepts seems interesting as it might just eliminate the need for such a wide range in products like Docomo has available right now. 

The first one shows a flute attachment where a flute portion is attached to the core unit, turning the phone into a musical instrument that utilizes the keys to change notes. The songs even can be shared wirelessly. 

The next one is aimed at Japan's aging population or those who need regular health check ups. By connecting a blood testing unit, mobile users can send data directly to their doctors without attending any actual sessions. Truly the most interesting feature however has to be the digital paper unit designed to display data on a big extendable sheet to make reading or watching movies on a big screen possible even on the subway or in the bus.

Don't think of seeing these features anytime soon as they won't even be close to being finalized before 2015.
