For those who don't know Sento-kun, he is the official mascot for Nara, Japan's old capital. After it's initial presentation to the public during March 2008, a lot of people declaring Sento-kun "not cute" or even "creepy" have raised their voice. Many local retailers have announced that they will go with an alternative mascot of which many seem to pop up these days.

The Nara government tries to improve Sento-kun's reputation by introducing related characters such as a grandfather and a girlfriend. 

There even is a free RPG browser game titled Sento-kun in Kamakura developed by game maker Hyohyohyo which surprisingly offers some interesting play time, especially if you like to throw around houses and other things. It's a game based on personal growth and features other Japanese regional mascots in the role of Sento-kun's enemys.
