This one was anticipated by the fans. Now after the broadcasting of the first episode of Sega's highly acclaimed tactical RPG "Valkyria Chronicles" anime adaptation, it's time for a quick episode check. Of course it is a bit too early for a full review but enough for a first impression. 

 

 

As it was to be expected the animation is very good with lot's of detail that goes as far as to include the special painted look the actual game featured, at least to a certain degree. Even the main voice cast is the same as on the PS3 game. The music too is practically unchanged from the game, showing only minor differences compared to the original. However, as the earlier trailer promised, the change from 3D models to drawn 2D imagery left some marks, namely in the characters design. Alicia looks somewhat older and seems more mature, not only in the mental department. I guess the characters look a bit "rounder" and more suited for the regular Anime Otaku.

All in all a positive development so far. Storywise the Anime so far stays rather close to the game version, only with more elaborations and aditional dialogue. Therefore you can now see the story of Alicia before she actually meets Welkin which is rather nice

We can only wait and see if the new episodes coming from Aniplex's A-1 Pictures  will show the same amount of quality, but after this episode we won't expect any less.
