Tsundere Childhood-Friend Serving "Oden Ramen"
posted 08/08/06
Daito creator of the "Oden-Curry" an item popular among otaku and Akihabara Visitor have started selling the new version of their Akiba snack at shops like Asobit. This time the character on the package is not a smiling maid holding a serving of brown gooey curry with bits of oden, but a rather poorly amused childhood friend (according to the package description). The dish itself is again made out of oden but this time it serves as a ramen topping. The flavor is soy sauce and the actual noodles are made out of konyaku, a healthy dish made from the devil's plant. A spokesman said: "The tsundere theme has been popular in Akihabara for a quite a while and now it is moving on to the new thing called yandere. However I think it is still too early to market this too to the casual visitor of Akiba since the general public is actually just getting the hang of tsundere which is why we decided on using this as the characters main point." Seeing as "yandere" describes a kind of sickly character it might be a bit challenging to use it to market food.
